Basic

  1. What is oalla?
  2. oalla enables a TV to run digital signage apps. Digital signage content and apps are controlled using a web-based dashboard. The oalla hardware device connects to the internet and the HDMI port of your TV. oalla is simple to use, affordable, and effective.

Internet, WiFi, Ethernet

  1. What happens if the WiFi goes down?
  2. If the WiFi goes down, the current content will continue to play. When WiFi returns the content will update again.

  3. How do I setup the WiFi?
  4. When you first turn on the device, you'll plug in a mouse to choose a network and enter the network password.

  5. Do I have to configure the WiFi on device each time it is rebooted?
  6. You only have to add the device to the network once.

  7. Can I plug the device into ethernet?
  8. The Standard Edition only has WiFi. The Enterprise Edition can be used with WiFi or Ethernet.

  9. What is the MAC Address for my device?
  10. To find the MAC address, plug in a mouse into the device. Restart the device. After the device boots up, click the right mouse button. You should go to the desktop. Press the gear button on the bottom right of the screen. On the top right of the screen click the orange "Other" button. Then click "More Settings". Scroll to the bottom and click "About MediaBox". Then click "Status". The MAC address is under "Wi-Fi MAC address".

  11. Is offline-mode supported?
  12. Offline-mode is supported on the Enterprise, All-In-One, and All-In-One touch editions. Many apps are interactive so support for offline mode varies from application to application.

Apps

  1. How are apps managed?
  2. All apps are managed through the web-based dashboard. The dashboard runs in Chrome and can be used on Mac, Windows, and Linux. No need to download or install any software or configure any firewalls.

  3. Why are there two or three of some apps?
  4. There are two slideshows and two website apps to help keep content organized. For example, you can put all your breakfast slides into slideshow 1 and all your lunch slides into slideshow 2. The apps have the same funcationality. There are multiple of them to help keep content organized.

  5. What is multi-app mode?
  6. By default only one app can be installed at a time. You can override this though by checking the multi-app mode box in the dashboard. This allows you to position the clock and the corkboard on the screen together.

  7. Does the screen support portrait mode?
  8. Yes, the screen can run apps in portrait mode. Apps that support portrait mode are marked as such.

  9. How do people interact with the apps?
  10. Depends on the app but it can be touch, camera, sms, iBeacon, Twitter, Instagram...

  11. Are apps customizable?
  12. Yes, most are. Some aren't. Menus, flyers, and voting apps can be changed with different text and images through the dashboard. Most of the games are not editable at the moment.

  13. What image and video formats are supported?
  14. Standard image formats: JPG, PNG, PDF, and GIF. HD videos are supported through Youtube links (.MOV, .MPEG4, MP4, .AVI, .WMV, .MPEGPS, .FLV. 3GPP, WebM)

  15. What is the resolution of the screen and apps?
  16. Landscape mode resolution is 1080px x 1920px. Portrait mode resolution is 1080px x 1920px.

Dashboard

  1. Can I see if the screen is online?
  2. Yes, there is a status light on the dashboard that tells if the screen is or isn't connected to the internet.

  3. Can one dashboard command multiple screens?
  4. Yes, one dashboard can be configured to control multiple screens.

  5. Can I see the screen full screen in the dashboard?
  6. Yes, click the full screen button.

Hardware

  1. Do I need one device per screen?
  2. Yes, the system is architected so that each screen has to be uniquely identified. So each screen requires a device.

  3. If the device looses power what happens?
  4. If the device looses power it will turn off. When power comes back, the device will automatically turn on and start playing content. You don't have to turn the device on or press any buttons.

  5. Can this device turn the power on the TV on and off?
  6. It can't but many TVs have a sleep setting that will auto turn off at a certain time.

  7. Are touchscreen supported?
  8. Yes, with the Enterprise Edition hardware. Touchscreens are not supported with the Standard Edition hardware though.

  9. What's in the box for standard?

  10. What's in the box for enterprise?

  11. What else do I need?
    • 1080p TV with an HDMI input
    • Internet
    • USB mouse for setup

  12. Is there a limit on how big or small the TV has to be in inches?
  13. If the TV is 1080p the TV can be any physical size.

  14. Do you have a recommended TV?
  15. Any 1080p TV will work. 99% TVs bought within the past 2 years are 1080p TVs.

Data

  1. Is there a limit to the number of slides or video I can upload?
  2. There is no limit to the number of slides, images, videos that you can upload.

  3. Can we see what user have responded?
  4. Yes, all dashboard data and user responses can be viewed in the dashboard.

  5. Can app data and user reponses be downloaded and saved?
  6. Yes, you can download all the data in .csv file format (Excel format) to your computer.

  7. Is there a profanity filter for incoming text messages?
  8. Yes, in the dashboard you can turn on and off a profranity filter for incoming text messages.

  9. Can I moderate content?
  10. Yes, in the dashboard you can remove any content and it will be removed from the screen instantly.

Phone Numbers

  1. How do we get a phone number?
  2. In the upper right corner of the dashboard, there is a button to get a phone number.

  3. Does each screen need its own phone number?
  4. Each screen has to be uniquely identified. So each screen needs its own phone number.

  5. Does each app get its own phone number?
  6. Phone numbers are assigned per screen. All apps that run on that screen will use the same phone number. The app that is currently running will get the incoming text messages sent to that number.

Photo Booth

  1. Can the photo booth be rebranded?
  2. Yes, the background of the photo booth and the image sent to the user can be rebranded.

  3. Which oalla devices does the photo booth work with?
  4. The photo booth only works with the Enterprise Edition hardware.
